The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is an immigration program that nominates applicants who help address the province’s unique labour market needs and contribute to its economic development. Alberta Opportunity Stream is for qualified temporary foreign workers who are already working full-time in Alberta and have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation. Candidates must have a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) based employer-specific work permit or hold one of the accepted LMIA exemption work permits. Candidates must also meet other minimum eligibility criteria.
Most occupations under NOC TEER Categories 0, 1, 2, 3 4 and 5 are eligible under the AAIP.
If you are a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) holder, your occupation must also be related to your field of study in Alberta.
To qualify for the program, you should have at least 12 months of full-time work experience in your occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months; alternatively, a minimum of 24 months of combined experience in Canada and abroad within the last 30 months.
The minimum language requirement is to score at least a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 if you are working in NOC 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations in Alberta; or minimum CLB 4 for NOC 4 and 5 occupations.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
Qualified candidates with an Express Entry profile, whose CRS registration score is above 300 points, may be invited by AAIP to apply for nomination for permanent residence. Tech workers can qualify for expedited processing under the Accelerated Tech Pathway.
Rural Renewal Stream
Qualified candidates who have a job offer from an Alberta employer to work in a designated Rural Alberta community can apply for an AAIP nomination.
